In November 2008, CCHA was awarded a $720,000 Housing Plus grant to purchase the Tilikum; the first Permanent Supportive Housing project for chronically homeless families in Clatsop County. The Tilikum is a collaborative partnership.
Northwest Oregon Housing Authority has committed eight Section 8 vouchers to the Tilikum for ten years, to assist families with the rent, allowing time for families to stabilize their lives.
Clatsop Community Action is the lead referral agency and provides volunteer case management to the Tilikum families to help break the cycle of chronic homelessness. Families choosing the case management option will also have up to four years of support service dollars available to assist with the stabilization process.
